SOLAR WATER HEATING - CIRCUIT

Hot Water Cylinder - Solar and Vented Central Heating Connections

The new cylinder has a second coil fitted to transfer solar heating from the collector on the roof. There are two outlets from this coil, one outlet will be connected to the pumping station and then from the pumping station it will be connected to the cold end of the solar collector. The other outlet from the cylinder will be connected to the hot end of the solar collecter, the hot end of the solar collector is the end where the senor is fitted. This then forms a loop between the collector and the cylinder and transfers the heat provided by the sun. It is very important to match the size of the cylinder accuratelt to the power output of the solar water heating collectors so that the heat dissipates from the coil efficiently into the water in the cylinder. This also prevents the high heat transfer fluid in th loop between the collector and cylinder reaching temperatures that are too high for some of the impellers in certain pumps (some inferior pumps have plastic impellers that have been known to melt after six months operation).
