DIY Solar Panel – Solar Water Heating Installation – Part 8.

Filling

Filling the circuit

large-caplarge-pumping-station

Connect the hose to pump and put the other end into the fluid container
Check the cap is off the stop end, open the two taps on the pump and pump in the fluid until the circuit is full
Replace the stop end cap and continue to pump in fluid until 1 Bar is showing on the gauge
Insulate the stop end
Close the taps on the pump
Check for leaks

Powering up

Switch on the power supply before the tubes are fitted

Monitoring and Maintance

The air trap will collect air in the system, which exists for two reasons
Air trapped in the system during filling, and or dissolved air in the fluid coming out
Bleed when cool by opening the lever on top of the manifold, the auto vent will do the rest
Close the lever and top up the system to 1 bar using the hand pump
Monitor over the first few weeks after which the system should stabilize
If a loss of pressure occurs check for leaks
